Revived Buzz in the Construction Industry: How Plastech® Supports Your Projects

Revived buzz in the construction industry

In recent months, there has been a revived buzz in the construction industry, with a significant uptake in project enquiries from clients. This change is largely driven by an influx of government-backed projects, particularly in the way of prison refurbishment and the development of new facilities under the Ministry of Justice (MOJ).  As a result, as these projects are increasingly released to the market, the industry is witnessing a boost in activity.

Moreover, the increase may be due to the HS2 project’s slowdown, freeing up resources from manufacturers. Consequently, long contracts left some manufacturers struggling for materials and facing extended wait times.

Now, there is a revived buzz in the market reminiscent of the post-COVID recovery period. Manufacturers, who are often the first to gauge market shifts, are expressing a more positive outlook. Recent tariff changes on raw materials may reduce PVC prices, offering some relief in a tight market.

Another encouraging sign is the increased rate of project releases. Letters of intent are increasingly issued, indicating work allocation and acceleration. This rapid release of projects is generating momentum and optimism within the industry.

As Glenigan’s Economist, Drilon Baca, notes, “Pockets of growth provided a welcome boost to the sector following a slow front half of 2024. The election had a considerable effect on industry behaviour, resulting in a project-start slowdown as firms took a ‘wait and see’ approach.”
